Noise in the Shape of Writing

Do you know what a Crux Gematta is? A cryptex? How about the sacred numbers of the Illuminati?

If you do, then you are no doubt as hooked on "The da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons" as I am. I have been listening to nothing but Dan Brown lately (as is at least one of my secret cohorts). Listening to audiobooks has made my commute... uh.. less than hellish. But only just.

That reminds me of Demon Holes... heh.

So I'm thinking this needs to be a live game/party event. It's already being made into a movie (with Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou). And I think there are special tours you can take where they drive you to all the spots mentioned in his books. But we need something stateside. Maybe something in L.A. Dan Brown needs to bring the franchise home! Actually, I don't know where he lives, so maybe L.A. ain't home for him.

And if you know me, you know that praise for a book is high praise indeed cause it takes a lot to get me to read. Or even listen. It's not as good as "Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horsewoman" (though it has a "conclave" scene very similar to that novel's). But, hey, what novel that isn't a 600-page tale of one man's odessey through Texas 1000 years in the future that is ruled by Roman Emperors and secretly guided by a New Rome pontificate whose brothers worship the atom bomb and the transistor like sacred relics is?

And now I must go administer the cilis.
